When you try asserting your brand with the force of good behind you, be aware of any clones in the background.
Sadly, there are a lot of web design and marketing agency fraudsters. Whether it’s stealing work, imitating styles of content, design, and identity, or ultimately cashing in on a brand’s hard-earned reputation.
For companies to abide by the laws of the marketing force, they should always:
- Not use images without permission unless open-source or royalty-free
- Provide links to all cited sources
- Don’t copy content from other brands, including phrases, images etc.
As with all copyright protection, the brand must have authorship and originality over the content, while it must be fixed in a tangible medium of expression.
If an agency doesn’t sound confident over the phone or appears too good to be true, reconsider your decision. Authenticity always wins. So, always keep your wits about you.
