At Woolery Forbes, they provide English-Jamaican fine food treats for special occasions, casual events and gifts. Made by local hands in Wolverhampton using the finest ingredients, they’re able to bake truly irresistible cakes and creams in small batches.
The Jamaican infusion is unlike other family bakeries or companies in the West Midlands and the UK. Each and every treat is made with love and is a guaranteed taste sensation. After just one bite, customers are instantly transported on a unique culinary journey, with the traditional recipes dating back over 100 years ago.
With this in mind, Woolery Forbes wanted to create an online presence that best represented their incredible roots, while making their premium products more accessible to the world – starting with the website design.

Woolery Forbes required a website design that encapsulated their story, personality and premium line of sweet English-Jamaican infused treats.
After being recommended by the Black Country Chamber, Woolery Forbes gave us the challenging, yet creative task of bringing their brand to life via an eCommerce website design. The idea of the website was simple – generate traffic, make visitors fall in love with their story and sell their premium products there and then.
They were particularly invested in the role of their brand colours, putting a great emphasis on having a website design that gives visitors the same positive and warm impression as their extremely tasty treats.
The brief also included the need to build a bespoke eCommerce system that allowed customers to order without delay. This is particularly important in the fast digital age where bounce rates and competition is incredibly high with so many options to choose from at the swipe of a button.
The professional, user-friendly eCommerce website design has boosted traffic and generated a sale within the matter of hours after launch.
Despite the obvious back-end challenges of building a bespoke eCommerce website design, Woolery Forbes is absolutely delighted with the result.
As a starting point, we paid a lot of attention to the format of the design, as we knew the importance of highlighting the tastiness of their premium cakes.
At every opportunity, we incorporated an image either overlaying or next to the clear font – including the hero banner at the top of the home page.
We also used a script font as a way of adding personality to the brand and making the website design more aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
To keep the user experience (UX) simple and to take every visitor on a journey, we used blocked sections with clear call to actions throughout the home page – either sending them to the About Us page or the Shop.
This same principle of simplicity and the UX in mind was applied when creating our navigational menu too. Woolery Forbes didn’t need an extensive website with multiple pages. The message needed to be simple – get to know us, check out our products and make a purchase.
In terms of colour, we made sure the colour palette consisted of rich tones like dark browns, greys and luxurious velvet reds to reiterate Woolery Forbes as a luxury brand.
Away from the visuals, we built a bespoke WooCommerce system especially for the website, making sure it’s easy for both customers to order and the company to access.
Since the launch, the website design has been extremely successful, generating a sale within hours of going live and significantly boosting the online presence of Woolery Forbes in the West Midlands area.
